| Can you see the moon? A little bit? :) |
| They were too speedy for me, they kissed for their picture :) Seriously, I can't even tell you how much I love and look up to these two wonderful people! :) |
Next on the list... GREAT NEWS! I finally got my tax return transcripts in the mail so now my financial aid profile (or whatever) is all finished and submitted, and hopefully (cross your fingers and say some prayers) we can be reimbursed for all my tuition! Which would be pretty great, because as much as we love knowledge... food tastes better than books.
(In case you didn't know the whole dramatic story: I started talking with the DXATC financial adviser to see what I needed to do to get a pell grant. I figured that since I'm married now, the government would take pity on our moneyless state and give me some help. :) Which, they would... but only after jumping through 3872 hoops and filling out taxes for 2011. Which I hadn't thought I needed to do- I didn't know I made enough to file that year. But- tender mercy- I filed, and ended up getting a nice little tax return from it all. Handy, right? Well, here comes the fun part of the story. It took them AGES to get everything processed at the IRS so I could even order tax return transcripts, and then another week or so for it to get here, and then another week before I could arrange a time to get it into the adviser. So now that we've gone through all that excitement, I'm just hoping it's not too late! :p)
February 21, I got to tour Deseret Labs in St. George with my PhT class. Talk about mind blowing! It's basically this factory that compounds/packages a bunch of different vitamin and diet supplements, as well as a small number of OTC drugs. What boggled me was seeing the different machines people have come up with to produce these drugs, and then (especially) the micro labs where they test all their raw ingredients for quality and efficacy. The labs might have been my favorite part, we saw a mass spectrometer in real life! (Here comes the nerd: in the TV show Bones, they use a mass spec all the time. I felt so smart for just being in the same room as all this insane technology! It was like a CSI lab in there or something.) All of the students got to gown up in lab coats, bootys, masks, hair nets... the works. Somewhere out there is a picture of us all, and when the girl who took it finally emails it, I'll have to stick it on here. :) We look pretty sweet. ;)
The tour was supposed to go from 2-4, but we finished an hour early. Usually I feel all awkward/timid and don't like hanging out by myself, but I've decided after reading about other people's solo adventures, that I'm missing out. :) So, I didn't have time to go on any really amazing adventures, but it was fun to window shop and poke around some kitchen stores and then read a book and people watch while I ate some dinner before heading back across St. George for my evening classes. (I felt so brave. :p)
Monday, of this week, was Matt's first graveyard shift for his job (that he got around President's day), and it's been an adjustment for sure! I really have no room to even complain, since I'm not the one staying up all night changing diapers and cleaning up puke, and then go to classes all throughout the day. Poor guy.
It has been weird to get used to the apartment ALWAYS being so quiet! That and sleeping alone. Which seems funny to me, since I've slept all by myself for the past... 5 years (I shared a room with Erin before we moved to Cedar :) Haha that just made me sound like a little kid. All by myself for five whole years?? Woah.) and I've only been married for 6ish-7 months. You'd think it wouldn't be that big of a deal, right? Well... when you have an imagination that works as well as mine, it's nice to have a big strong protector next to you through the night. :p So it was this really great deal to be able to sleep in this morning, and to have Matt home too!
All in all, we're both just really grateful that at least one of us has had employment luck. :) Cedar hasn't been an easy place to find a job! Hopefully this summer that will change. :)
We've also discovered a new favorite quick food lately. It's no where near health food status, so don't judge. I found the idea on pinterest to make 'pizza quesadillas'. Sooo yummy! I think I had it for lunch three days straight. :p It just inspired my brain to come up with a million more fun quesadilla ideas. :) One of these days I'll actually try some of them, and probably blog about it. ;)
So. There you have it. :) Random catch up post. Now I've got to go study, because Thursday is my Pharm 1 final! (Seriously. Literally a month after our midterm. We don't waste time here people! We have externships to get to! Drugs to sell! Double time, let's go!)

Beautiful pictures of Kolob. That was a fun but a little cool drive. your food idea look fun...I hope Gramps will want to try it with me. so sorry Matt has to work nights. I get real nervous when I am alone at tnight too. Love your blogs ....keep them coming.....
ReplyDeleteI loooooove the pictures from Kolob! Our family is the best. And I love our grandparents. And I love beautiful southern Utah.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about sleeping alone! I never sleep as soundly when klane is gone. That stinks that Matt has graveyard shifts. But good that he has a job.
Also, way to go on spending some alone time with yourself! I agree, I don't naturally feel comfortable doing that but the more I do it the more comfortable I get.
Okay and tortilla pizzas aren't necessarily unhealthy! Case in point, I have a friend who cooks and eats extremely healthy, and she posts a lot of great, healthy recipes on her blog. And look what she recently posted....!
