Catch up time! Matthew my husband formally known as cute Matt hates pictures being taken. So guess who hasn't taken pictures for a while? Shannon the wife. :) We need to work on that though, because my blog looks so lonely with out the usual picture vomit.
FHE ended up being really fun (sorry if I said that already) and I'm excited to hang out with these couples more often. One guy was stinkin hilarious because at Snow I think I heard him talk twice, and that was at church where he was being serious. I think the English major who 'can't spell' should have been a thespian! Anywho. Fun stuff, right? The other Ephraim couple, J and N are outdoorsy and adventurous, so we've been trying to plan a camping trip. How fun would that be?? We need to hurry though, because nights are starting to get a little on the freezy side.
This weekend was busy but fun! Friday we had our date night, which consisted of starting a batch of whites in the laundry so we could be clothed for the rest of the weekend, grabbing a $4 pizza (and maybe two desserts for $6 :p) and taking it to the Canyon Park. Complete with a quilt and some koolaid. Classic. :) A couple from our ward was there with their newish puppy. Matt's dying to get a lab, which would be fun and all because they're suuuuuuuper adorable, right? Especially their super adorable slobber and adorable poop and pee and bite marks and adorable shedding habits. :) It's a decision in progress. Good thing we've got an apartment with no yard that isn't exactly pet compatible so we have time to figure out compromises. Like an unlimited lint roller fund for all the hair that comes with the adorable puppy. :) (Can you tell that's my biggest hang up? Hair. Is. Gross.) After the park we we as in Matt watched Monsters Vs. Aliens. I've had allergies so I may or may not have popped a benedryl and fallen asleep twenty minutes into it. :p
Saturday we drove to Springville to stay with bro-in-law Matt and Mallorie. First of all, she's the cutest decorator ever. I love their house! Her latest project was a jewelry board out of an old frame and some cardboard and fabric covered sewing bobbins. I should study how to be crafty. We went up a canyon that has a name that I don't remember anymore, and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. The leaves are starting to change!! I love it! SO excited. :)
Sunday was Grandma Wilde's farewell, and she did awesome! The grandkids did a missionary medley, bro-in-law Matt and I didn't know if we were supposed to join them or not (ok so I didn't know and Matt didn't want to :p) but then Jennifer motioned rather enthusiastically for us to go up, I just crossed my fingers that I wouldn't face plant on my way up. Not only am I an unrecognized grandchild at this point, but I'd be a clumsy/show ruining, unrecognized grandchild. :p Thankfully no one tripped and even though Grandma Coffin (who was accompanying us) forgot we were singing 'Called to Serve' after two of the littles played their violins, it turned out pretty well.:) I think we kind of just sang over the song she was playing until she switched to Called to Serve. Good thing Grandma Coffin's a musical genius! :) The luncheon was fun, Matt and I have spent more time with my family since day one so it's kind of fun to go and hang out with his when we get the chance! We just need a teleporting machine, clearly. Then we could play all the time!
Ok. Now that I've bored you... I have some funny babysitting stuff.
Lately I've gotten pro at putting baby brother to sleep for an afternoon nap, which comes in handy when big sister needs LOTS of attention. Like, it's basically impossible to function if they're both coherent. Either she needs to be preoccupied with carebears or he needs to be asleep. I don't know how mom's survive. :p While baby R is asleep A and I have lots of good conversations, which tend to consist of a lot of "why?"'s and "huh?"'s. Very intellectual. ;) Yet entertaining. Last week we were trying to finish five more 'big girl bites' when out of nowhere she tells me "I want to wap you. ... Lap, map..."
"You want to map me?"
"Yeah!" lights up, "with magic! See? Use you magic!"
Also, Matt comes to visit occasionally, between classes. ok, so maybe I shouldn't blog. I just wrote that 'matt comes to visit occasionally inbetween classes. inbetween?? Go to bed shannon. He saves my sanity. And morphs into a rock star. ;)
And then this afternoon:
A:I can go to you house! (we took a field trip to my parents house once, since it's down the street and those swings are fenced in. opposed to the 3 fountains swings that aren't and are harder to keep children within close proximity while you're there. the only problem with the field trip was A not wanting to walk home and being stubborn, and me ending up carrying her in one arm and pushing sleeping R in the stroller with the other. clearly i'm amazing. ;p)
Me: No, no one's home! We need to stay here with baby R.
A: But I can come to you house one time. Ok? Is that ok?
Me: But your mom would miss you! I'll be honest. sometimes i just keep the argument going to hear her responses. i know. i'm a despicable human being. ruffling three year old feathers for my own selfish pleasure. :p (name that movie! :foh yo own sewfish pweasah!)
A: thinking for a while... My mommy and Daddy can stay with baby R. I can come to your house!
She looked pretty pleased with herself for coming up with that solution. :p
Aaand then we watched three million episodes of Blues Clues. I think I understand now...
I probably would've lost it after being overly animated to just a camera crew for years too. Poor Steve.
Anywho. Lucky me, I'm babysitting again tonight! I'm kinda glad I have a nice husband who lets me drag him with me so I have an ally ;)
