little mister! We're having a cowboy ladies and gents! :)
I have to admit, I have been a little less sure the past couple weeks, but I still was surprised to not hear 'it's a girl!' at the ultrasound today!
We went in at 8:30ish for our checkup with Dr. Gatherum, and what I've discovered at home was reaffirmed. Little man does not like dopplers and ultrasounds. :p Dr. Gatherum was trying to check the heart rate but every time he'd find the beat our little guy would squirm out of the way and hide in a different corner, so he'd search for a while and find it again and guess who ran away again? Yup. Gunth doesn't love dopplers. He also kicks/punches at it almost every time. :) We might have a tornado on our hands in a handful of months.
Our appointment with our doctor didn't take too long, just the in and out check up.
The ultrasound wasn't scheduled until 11, so we went home to wait. I may or may not have watched Veggie Tales, because they use bible verses and teach wholesome things so it counted as 'Church media' and was exempt from the fast. ;) It was "It's a meaningful life" (as in a spinoff from "It's a Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart) and I seriously got teary a couple times. This being pregnant stuff changed my perspective on lots of things, because it's not just a song daddy cucumber sings to daughter cucumber about who she is and her worth, it's me telling Gunth that now. Plus my hormone levels are off the charts and even commercials make me cry.
So... one Veggie Tales episode, a clean kitchen, and a packed suitcase (for cattle drive escapades) later, we headed back to the hospital and signed in at Radiology and then twiddled our thumbs some more. And FINALLY we went back and watched our tiny human squirm around on the big screen across the room from us.
He was super active during the whole ultrasound! It was a little hard to get good pictures of him because he'd move as soon as she'd hit the button. (Sound like anyone you know? He's totally Matt's kid, they both hate pictures? :p)
It was so amazing to see all the different measurements they take. We saw his heart(like all four chambers), brain, kidneys, diaphragm, liver, bones, main arteries, and a bunch of other stuff. And to me it's like... grey fuzzy, oh there's a black spot, wonder what that is? It blows my mind how much medical staff have to know and understand, and how much technology has advanced! Who would have thought 100 years ago that you could see your baby months before he/she was born??
I think we might have a thumb sucker on our hands, he liked to keep a hand close to his face and put his fingers in his mouth a few times. :) So cute!
Anyway. Most of our 3D pictures still look fairly alien-ish but I think he has my nose!
We have a name picked out, I'm sure it's subject to change, but as of right now little man is Jaden Matthew! It'll be kind of fun to start calling him by name. I will admit I've still said "Gunth" more than "Jaden" today, but it'll stick. :)
Aversions: I can't really think of anything. I think I'm pretty much just ravenous and will eat anything. (Minus most granola bars still. Seriously guys, that's the weirdest thing to me still.)
Best part of this week: Seeing Jaden on the ultrasound roll around and finally getting to know that he's a boy! Plus I've felt flutters a little more distinctly this week. He likes tap dancing on my bladder I think. (That'll be really fun when I can really feel his kicks, huh. Better invest in some depends right now...)
Hardest part of this week: Feeling the round ligament pain. I just feel like everythings really sttreeetchiing in there. And sometimes that gets a little uncomfortable.
Also I've gained a total of 6 pounds so far. Which doesn't seem like that's a big enough number for how big Jaden seemed and how 'big' I've felt.
Our next appointment is the 31, happy Halloween, right? :) I'm kinda sad we don't get to see ultrasounds every time! They told us we probably only have one more before all is said and done. But either way I just can't wait to meet our little man. :)
Anyway... without further adieu, here are the pictures from our 'reveal party'. :)

Jaden Matthew is a good solid name! And it's not one of those funky Utah names. ;) Congrats on it being a boy, you two are going to have so much fun!
