Ok, so it depends on which search engine you use... but according to one source I'm at my third trimester this week! (Or I will be next week. Or the next one. ;) It's gotta happen sooner or later, right?)
So that's kind of exciting! We're definitely on the downhill slide. Time is speeding up, I swear! I'm pretty sure I'll wake up tomorrow in Hatch and it'll be Christmas morning. What's happening? I remember when I was little November and December were the longest months of my whole life!! And now they think they can just fly right by without even stopping in to chat? Good grief, this growing up stuff is nuts.
This morning we woke up to 10ish inches of snow. .... Right? Utah should believe in snow days, because the only thing I wanted to do this morning was make some hot chocolate and read a good book snuggled under my favorite quilt. Instead I got up and put Uggs over my scrub pants and waddled through waaay too much snow to get to my car in attempts to start it early enough that I'd be able to see out my windows. ;) Today I'm grateful that Jaden isn't here yet. I'd feel so bad if I ever had to take him anywhere in this weather while he was so tiny! That lucky duck doesn't even know how good he's got it in there! (Or maybe he does, and all his kicks while I was waddling through the oceans of snow were 'neiner neiner' kicks. :p)
Our Thanksgiving break was pretty awesome! I took my camera and everything... but true to Shannon style I forgot to ever actually take it out of the bag. So... no pictures. But at least I had it with me! ;)
We drove to Cottonwood Heights Wednesday afternoon, and had dinner with Vicki and Mike G. before we drove a few minutes to Grandma Benson's house. Mike has started working from home, and so their spare bedroom is now his office. (And a very nice one at that!)
As we were getting ready for bed that night I realized that I didn't pack my pajamas. Oops? So Grandma Lola (Benson) let me borrow a night gown, and brought me this full length, fluffy, blue bath robe for me to wear in the morning too. :) Have I ever mentioned how much I love night gowns? When I was little we'd have our Barbie or Princess night gowns, but then we grew up and pajamas took over. So every time I'd visit Grammie Marilyn and 'accidentally' forget my pajamas I'd get to borrow one of hers, and I always felt so fancy! It was fun to make some new fancy nightgown borrowing memories. ;)
Thursday we got up and got ready, drove to the movie theater to buy Catching Fire tickets for later that night, and then went back to Mike G. and Vicki's to help set up. This year Morgan and Jason (and of course adorable Christian, who is now 10-11 months, and HUGE and so stinkin cute) were with this side, and Vicki's sister Cindy and her boyfriend Wayne were there. Mike's daughter Courtney got to come and eat with us too! She's one of his twins, and we don't get to see his kids very often because all our schedules seem to be opposites! It was fun to be able to visit with her and get to know her better, I just love Courtney! She's so much fun to be around!
I joked with Matt that it was a cultural learning event for me, because I've never really thought about football games on Thanksgiving. I'm sure Grandpa Barton has had his ballgames on before, but I don't remember that part of Thanksgiving. :p This year I didn't watch the games so much as sit in front of them and visit with everyone else, but every once in a while we'd stop to cheer on one of their favorite teams. :)
Friday was kind of a rough day, pregnancy wise, but I was able to take it easy and even sneak a nap in which helped! We got to go visit Grandma Coffin, who I've only seen twice since we got married before this break. When we got married it had only been a handful of months since her husband passed away, and I didn't get to visit with her very much so I loved being able to go sit down and see where Mike C. grew up and where Matt lived for a little while when he was younger. :) Grandma Coffin is the cutest little lady ever! She had such a cute and positive attitude about everything! When we started getting up to go so we could get some lunch and let Matt start some studying, she asked if we could stay for lunch. Of course we said yes, and she got busy bustling around her kitchen to fix us some sandwiches, complimented by chips and yogurt and drinks. :) I had to giggle when she started listing what our drink options were, she named root beer and Matt started mouthing 'Cherry 7Up' before she could even say it. I guess that's a staple drink at her house. :)
She also gave me a couple of books, because she loves them so much and she loves sharing books with people who love reading too. :)
Later Friday evening, we met up with Mike G. and Vicki to drive to Park City for dinner and some early Christmas shopping. They took us to The Eating Establishment, which was a cute cozy typical Park City kind of place. Our table was right next to a fireplace, and we timed it perfectly because right after we were seated and placed our orders the dinner crowd showed up. :) It was such good food! I had a steak (which I've been dying to eat for a while now) and shrimp (at Vicki's insistence since I never eat sea food at home. Matt's a party pooper in that category.) I'm not even kidding, I have never loved steak so much. I can't decide if that's because I've been craving it for a while and haven't been able to eat any, or if it was just that good! ;) Probably both!
We hit the strip mall after dinner, and it felt so good to walk some of my fullness off, haha. I ate way too much! Since it was black Friday, I was bracing myself for the mobs but it wasn't bad at all! Nothing was any more crowded than usual. Vicki and I went in search of maternity tops, which was so perfect. All my shirts are getting a little too short trying to stretch over my belly now. :p We got a little distracted in Carters, and I'm telling you, I could buy that whole store easily. (Well. I mean I could pick it all out to buy easily. My wallet would definitely protest, but everything is so adorable!) We found some absolutely precious onesies, and got a couple more sleepers for Jaden. We found some clothes that would be so darling for Christian! :) I just wanted to buy him everything too! And all the baby sized coats and hoodies?? *Squeal!* I died. They are just so precious!
Saturday we basically just got up and packed and headed home so Matt could get to work on time! (Which stinks for him because my family went to Milts for my dad's birthday dinner. :) Where I got to eat shrimp again! No worries though, it was definitely a total less than 12 oz for my week so I shouldn't have mercuried Jaden out.)
Phew, done with the rambling (maybe) and onto this week's updates.
Best part of this week: I feel like I've had a pretty good sleep week, I don't wake up as often. I'm sure that'll change again when he's bigger and putting more pressure on my bladder again. :p So I'm just enjoying it while it lasts!
Hardest part of this week: I think I've started to feel some little Braxton-Hicks contractions. Every once in a while my stomach will just feel tight and uncomfortable, but it never lasts too long before I feel normal again. (Haha. Normal. :p I guess as normal as I ever feel with all these pregnancy things going on.)
Cravings: Red meat... I think we kick started something when we ate out. :p Chicken just isn't cutting it!
Aversions: Eggs. I've been trying to choke down more of them because they're way more healthy for breakfast than my Marshmallow Mateys, but they're just... so egg-y. :p
Tomorrow is our 27 week check up, and so I'll probably have more to say next time! (Or not, if I'm not third trimester and if I don't have to do the glucose test. Otherwise it's just a normal checkup with nothing to really report. Except for how the numbers on the scale are definitely going up now. ;) )
Happy snow day everyone!

I love reading...lol...I can totally hear your voice as I read it :) Super fun!
