Happy 25th birthday Matt! (I was about to write this like I was writing it to him, but then I thought 'who am I kidding, we all know Matt doesn't read the blog'. So it's to you guys. I'll just brag on him anyway. :p)
Matt has had such a hard year school wise this year, and he's done so great with it all! He had summer classes that took up a fair amount of time, he broke his arm and had to switch jobs because of it, and then you all know the O Chem misery I've whined about... I swear Matt just keeps getting even more impressive. I thought I was getting an awesome deal when we got married, but now I'm positive I did! This year he didn't really have any requests for his birthday so I had planned on maybe just making a 'fancy' dinner for the two of us and getting a few of his favorite movies so he could just relax! But when I talked with him about it, he said he would kind of rather hang out with my family. I'm not sure if that means he just really loves my family or if he's sick of too much one on one time with a pregnant, hormonal wife. ;) (Just kidding, it's just been tradition in his family to do family parties, so that's what he loves- spending time with our families!)
When he got home from his Psych final that day, I was just finishing up cleaning around the house
so I stopped and asked him what he wanted to do- what kinda birthday adventures
sounded good? He told me he didn't want to go on adventures, he just wanted to
do nothing. :p So we flopped on the bed (on top of the pile of laundry no less
haha) and just talked. Then we started watching the time traveler while we ate
some lunch. (It's kind of a bizarre movie. But we're not finished with it yet
so maybe I'll decide I like it? So far I just think it's kind of scatter
brained and weird.) We headed over to my parents house to make dinner later that evening, and Matt got to hear from (I think) everyone in his family! There were lots of singing phone calls recieved!
For dinner I made homemade alfredo sauce (which was amazing because it resembles something you'd see on a Paula Deen recipe. As in it calls for
plenty of butter. And cream cheese. And parmesan. It's good.) and my mom made a fabulous cream cake with chocolate frosting and Heath bar sprinkles. :) After we ate and sang and ate some more, we decided we needed to watch The Grinch. (Confession: ever since I heard the story of my cousin's daughter calling it "The Grunch" I can't quite say it normal. :p The Grunch just sounds better I guess! ;) )
All in all it was a great day! (Minus the part where my camera batteries died five seconds into things... I think that's going to be my New Years resolution: use my camera more often. Because who just buys a nice camera to decorate their shelves with??)
