30 things series.... #1

So... I'm an attention hog I guess. I like seeing comments on my blog and on facebook... so sue me. :p But even more than my attention needs, I really enjoy going back over all the posts I've written in the past and re-reading them. Mark my words, one day I'll convince Matt that it's worth it to spend an exorbitant amount of money to turn my blogs into one big blog journal book that I can thumb through whenever I want. (Plus it'd be good for posterity, right? Of course right. ;) )

That being said, one of my friends- Carmina- over at The Mr. & Me found this cute idea on Better off Wed. These are the kinds of things I really love reading about other people, so if any of you read past my attention hog confession you should join in! I love love love learning more about other people. :) You find out that you have so many random things in common with people you maybe hadn't thought you would.
Plus I've hit a point in my blogging where it's basically just pregnancy updates- which I also loved reading about other people- but I feel like that gets old after a while. Especially when it's kind of like not much is changing from week to week. Baby J is just getting chubbier and I'm just getting more uncomfortable.  :p There's your week 32-40 update. ;)

I suppose I should kinda tell you what the 30 things series actually is too... here's the list if you want to join in!

Alright. Enough rambling to justify why I'm going to tell you all about me. :p
The first of the "30 things" series is
20 Random facts about me:
1- I have a serious popsicle addiction. It's been 5,000 times worse since I got pregnant, but even before this I couldn't ever eat just one popsicle. It had to be a handful of them at a time. This is probably why I'll never have a bikini body. :p

2- For a while I was the only brown haired child in my family with hazel eyes. The rest of my cute sisters were blondies with gorgeous blue eyes! As time has gone on everyone's hair kind of got darker, and now we're in betweeners?
3- I used to get so angry if people told me I had hazel eyes because I wanted them to be "just green" so badly!
4- I also wanted my hair to at least have a reddish tint to it really bad. For some odd reason I've had this obsession with being Irish since I was little. I guess I want to be a leprechaun? ;) I'm not even really sure where it came from, because we don't have a ton of family from Ireland... do we?
5- I don't think I've ever had one hobby or 'favorite' that I've stuck with consistently. I was going to be a horse pro for a while, then that fizzled. Then I had visions of myself being a great violinist, but practicing wasn't fun. Then there was volleyball, but I came in 29th out of 29 people at try outs and didn't want to be a bench warmer. I started writing at least seven different books but never made it to the happily ever after in any of them. ... I guess I have always loved photography but I've never been very good at sticking with it long enough to be really good.
6- I will always get orange chicken at Panda. Sometimes I'll split it with another entree and try something different, but I always go back to orange chicken. (Yeah, me and half of America, right?)

7- I really miss being in a seminary class, because I never know how to study by myself. Haha, I guess I have to have someone holding my hand and leading me along through the scriptures before I really get it.

8- I used to believe, heart and soul, in personality tests and horoscopes and fortune cookies. I had a whole lot of wishful thinking obviously. :)
9- I've wanted a glider rocking chair for years. Seriously. I almost spent my hard earned money on it the summer that I bought my car, instead of saving up for my car and school. So now that I have an excuse to have one and we finally did buy one... I'm pretty much on cloud nine. :)

10- I've wanted to be a mommy for as long as I can remember. Now that it's actually happening I'm wondering if that's a good idea to turn me loose with a tiny human or not! :p But I am so excited. So overwhelmed, but so excited. :)
11- If I could take music lessons of some sort again, I'd pick either the cello or the viola. I really love the rich 'dark' sounds that they make as opposed to brighter sounding instruments.

12- I rarely ever drive somewhere by myself without singing loudly :) Singing just makes driving more bearable.

13- I'd really like to finish my Associate's degree eventually. I was a moron and wasted my freshman year of college, and then the second year I met Matt and we came to Cedar so I didn't finish at Snow. I did finish the Pharmacy Technician program and am now licensed, but I just want to prove to myself that I can finish what I started and graduate with my Associates. Because I wasn't stupid, just lazy. :p

14- I know it's terrible for you and you'll bake yourself into a cancer pie, but I really liked tanning. I just like how warm it feels. Especially if it's wintery outside. My freshman year at Snow, my roommates and I went tanning fairly often and it just felt so good! It wasn't even necessarily for the sake of getting darker either, I just like being toasty. :)

15- I absolutely love this chapter of my life, being married to Matt,  but sometimes I think it'd be fun to rewind and be twitterpated and dating again. We went on lots of silly adventures back then. ;) Now we pretend to be practical adults.

16- When I get bored I like to rearrange my furniture. I'm positive that was inherited from my mom. :)

17- I don't know how to make a small or even normal sized amount of soup. I make soup to feed armies. This, too, was inherited from my mom. ;)

18- I've had my dad for my seminary teacher, seminary principle, bishop, and (duh) dad. At one point they all overlapped. :p But I'm so grateful for the opportunities I had to learn from him because of all that. I'll always be so thankful that he was my bishop when he was. I really gained a testimony of bishops being the Lord's hands in watching over his ward members because of the times I was able to spend across the desk from him.

19- I like to throw things out and have things clutter free and organized... but I'm also a sentimental boob so I think it's necessary to hold on to notebooks I doodled in when I was in seventh grade.  I have a feeling that it's going to be a problem if I don't get this under control before my kids hit preschool. Every single scribble they draw or weed they pick will end up in a box to save for later. Vote me into the next season of Hoarders I guess!

20- I haven't had the hardest life or the worst trials, but I've definitely gotten myself into my fair share of messes that have made me who I am and taught me on a very deep level that my Savior is my friend and loves me personally, that the atonement is real and all encompassing, and that prayer is every bit as good as having a best friend to talk to. I might regret that other people remember my stupid decisions, but I wouldn't trade them because I'd lose this level of testimony that I've gained. :)

most of all i like potatos!!! (I was going to delete that, but it was Matt's only contribution ever to this blog so... ladies and gents, my husband. :p Apparently he feels like I've been making lots of potatoes lately. ;) )

  2. Shannon. Sometimes it creeps me out with how alike we are. I just had to tell you that. And I'm thinking about stealing this "30 Things Series" from you. I've done things like these a million times but I never stick with it, maybe I will this time! :)
