Jaden's new born pictures

While I was still pregnant, my family did family pictures (we do every... oh... five years? ;p) and I really loved our photographer. I thought she was fun, she didn't over edit the pictures, and she was comfortable to work with. :) So when I convinced Matt, the hater of pictures, that we should pay someone to take pictures of our perfect little baby and that he'd thank me in fifty years, I decided I wanted to stick with Brandi. (click here for her blog. click here for her facebook page.) We ended up getting an awesome deal, since she hadn't done a ton of new born pictures, and I think she did a fantastic job!
The Friday after Jaden was born, my little family got up and dressed in the pre-picked outfits and headed out to Enoch. I had made sure to pump plenty so that if Super dude got hungry half way through the shoot, I could feed him a bottle instead of trying to nurse. (A- his feeding frenzy makes meal time last much longer than we probably would have had time for, and B- I'd rather not just flash everyone... ya know?) I got Jaden all dressed in his little grey polo onesie (and I'm completely obsessed with his polo onesies, thanks Aunt Cherene!!) and we brushed his fluffy hair into a little faux-hawk. We were all prepared!
... Well. Turns out we really weren't all prepared. Jaden decided that was a good morning to be wide awake and want to play. :) Which under any other circumstance is more than acceptable, but photographers like babies to be asleep so they can pose them and such... We tried taking some family pictures when we finally got him kind of asleep, and then switched to taking some with props. It didn't seem like we'd have hardly any pictures because he wasn't being very cooperative, but we got some really cute ones. :) Brandi did a great job! After we did the props, we went back to doing a few more family shots, and by then Jaden was getting hungry.
No problem, I had pumped milk and was ready to fix the problem, right?
Wrong.
I left the bottle at home. (Slaps forehead.) So we tried and tried to keep him calm and get him to go back to sleep so we could do some family pictures, but Jaden is definitely Matt's kid and when they're done with pictures, they are done with pictures.
Oh well... I still have the cutest family in the world. (Totally not even because I'm biased either. ;) )

So, without any further adieu....
(that's how the saying goes... right?)

(Oh, p.s. they're all edited in both color and b&w, but I didn't put both up for each picture. I did on a few though, because I can't decide which I like better!)
Ok, does he not just have the sweetest face??

I LOVE this one. :)

We had to get 'Poppa Wallace's' bear in
at least one picture. :)

His lips!! :) :)

You can tell he's had enough. :p My poor
boys. They're learning to tolerate my
obsession with pictures.

Two years ago from my birthday (Saturday 22)
I was laying out on our front 'porch' at Snow,
and an insanely cute guy asked me to go play
ultimate Frisbee. I told him I couldn't because
I had class, but really I just didn't want to
embarrass myself in front of him.
Fast forward to now, and I do plenty of stupid
things in front of that cute guy, and he still
likes me. What's even better is he's head over
heels in love with our son. Which makes him
that much more attractive to me. :) Who
would have known this is where we'd be two years
later?
I love my little family more than life. :)

  1. Oh Shannon these are priceless and you don't have to wait even 20 years to see that! Husbands are so great to go along with us on these picture journeys, but after making a few slide shows and tribute fathers day books for Brian he is all about the pictures now! You can't even believe how fast these little ones grow up and all you got is the pictures you took of these preciouse moments! Love all of them and love that you did this so quickly! You are a trooper to be prioritizing this as you are getting used to being a new mom!

  2. I agree Sharla...Shannon you are a real trooper.....The pictures are perfect and you will always be so thankful that you have them. Time passes quickly and memories get a little blurry. It is a priceless possession to have a picture record of life as it happens.. Thanks to Sharla I have many more pictures of Wallace and I than I would have because she was always taking pictures.....I can't tell you how very valuable pictures of my sweetheart are to me today...So thankful for every one of them...
