- Rolling over, both from his back to his belly, and from his belly to his back. He just barely started rolling from his back on Sunday, and I missed it the first time! I had laid him on a blanket on the floor to go brush my teeth and when I came back into the living room he was smiling up at me from his belly. After church he showed off a few more times at grandma and grandpa Heap's house, with all the aunties cheering. :)
- Smiling almost constantly! Even when he's crying sometimes. Haha the poor little moody guy, sometimes I don't think even he knows exactly how he's feeling. ;) We love all his gummy smiles though. Drool and all.
- Which leads us into drooling. All. The. Time. I mean, it is a constant stream of slobber the whole time he's awake! Sometimes I wonder if it's even worth putting clothes on him... diapers and bibs would mean less laundry... ;)
- Very vocal. He likes to talk with his 'big boy voice', and I love it. :) If he's not getting the attention he feels like he needs he'll yell a little just to get everyone refocused on what's important- him. ;) It makes me giggle when he does his little fake crying for attention.
- Laughing. He's only done a couple of real belly laughs since the first one a couple of weeks ago, but his daddy can always get him to do his little half-giggles. :) It makes my heart so happy to watch my guys.
- Getting so good at grabbing things. In fact, I've had to start being more conscious about what I wear! He's pulled my earring out a time or two now, thankfully it hasn't been bad either time. To say I'm paranoid now is an understatement. :p He loves to lay under the jungle gym toy my mom bought for her house, and is so good at getting a hold of all the fun dangling toys! He's also figured out it's fun to grab mom and dad's face and try to eat it. ;)
- Putting everything in his mouth like it's his job. Goodness, that child will face plant into just about anything if it means he can get something to chew on.
- Starting a new bedtime routine. Before I was just giving him a bath before getting him into bed, but he decided he loved splashing so much that it went from something relaxing to something way too exciting to do right before bed. Haha, he'd get a little bit worked up so I've switched to baths in the morning (bonus- that means more time for splashing!) and now we do some yummy smelling baby lotion and then rock him and tell him bed time stories. I think that's one of my new favorite things of this stage- it works like a charm and he dozes off so quickly, and I love imagining up new adventures for Jaden. ;) I guess I'm still a kid at heart.
Over the past month Super Dude's been on some new adventures; camping, hiking, swimming, his first sleepover with grandma and grandpa, trying some of grandma's water from a big boy cup, and sticking little toes into the stream at the park!
He got his first little sunburn when I took him with me for the Barton family reunion, and I felt like an awful mom! It didn't last too long though, and he was such a good little camping buddy.
The hike made for a great nap for him, but it just about killed me! I went with my friend Kassie, and her mother and sister in law on a trail kind of behind Stadium 6. Good grief I'm out of shape!
Matt and I went on an over night trip, just the two of us for the first time since Jaden was born, and it was so great. I think we got a little home sick for our buddy, but we loved spending a day four wheeling through Proctor Canyon, roasting marshmallows at the cabin, and then spending the next day hiking from Tropic to Sunset point in Bryce Canyon! My mom said Jaden did really well while we were gone, so obviously he didn't miss us too much. ;)
I think it was good to be able to spend some time together when we could focus on each other and not get interrupted in the middle of visiting or adventuring by dirty diapers and hungry boys. :)
We're loving being parents, still, and we're excited to start new things with Jaden boy! We're going to start trying some cereal and juice- my sisters are going to be so excited because they're always dying to share their food with him. :) Based on his enthusiasm for grandma's ice water Monday night, I think he'll do just fine with these new introductions. :)
(P.S. I'm sure there will be pictures to follow, I'm just at the library so I don't have
