Our Halloween '14

Jaden's first Halloween was a tiny bit anti-climatic, but definitely made me super excited for next year when he'll actually enjoy celebrations more. :) I played off of the cape that Aunt Marie made for him, and made him a 'Super Jaden' onesie to go with it. I squished my boys thighs into some tights, and off to the trail-or-treat we went!
We discovered that we're kind of lame parents. We skipped half the booths because we didn't want to wait in line, and Jaden didn't care anyway right? So I mean, we dressed up and took some pictures and called the night a success. ;)
The night before, however, my sisters and I packed in as much Halloween spirit as possible! We drew Halloweenish things in all the windows and mirrors, blasted "Monster Mash" on Pandora, and squished pumpkin guts between our fingers. Matt had to work, which was a huge bummer... but at least he had Halloween off. :) Looking for the silver linings, people. Just looking for the silver linings.
We maybe watched this seven million times also. And then quoted it in between watching it.

We had fun, and I'm even more excited for Thanksgiving and Christmas with our little man!
Now, of course, it's time for my photo dumping skills to take front and center.

This was Jaden's pumpkin, by the way.

Jaden thought the pumpkin seeds were marvelous to play in. But he wasn't too sure about the whole carving thing.

L-R: Jaden's pumpkin that Megan carved, Miss's pumpkin, and mine.

The morning of Halloween, Matt had classes and I wanted to do something fun and out of the ordinary to celebrate. (Guys, I'm that person. Ya know, the one who uses literally EVERYTHING as an excuse to celebrate? ... At least it'll make me a fun mom? Lost a tooth? Party. Can't find a stuffed kitty? Party. Fits in pajamas? Party. Grew out of pajamas? Party. ... see what I'm sayin?) Anyway. I decided Jaden would think it'd be fun to play with jello. Because who doesn't love jello? There's a home video of me in Kanab completely demolishing a pan of jello with cool-whip. Fun fact, it wasn't for me. Or my family, even. It was supposed to be my mom's contribution to a Relief Society party (I think. Some kinda party.) Needless to say it didn't make it there. ... I never asked what she did instead of her jello?
Here's another fun fact for you, red jello stains and it stains good. Clueless parenting for the win, right? We did, in fact, take two baths after this just to get his red beard look off, and he enjoyed every second of it. I'm still finding jello splatters on my walls. Ya know what though? It was SO worth it. I loved watching Jaden explore this new stuff. :) He's my favorite.

Total after thought of letting him play in the jello- red jello totally turned him into a zombie baby, which makes it the perfect Halloween time-passer.

I wish this picture showed you how pink my tub turned.

I finished Jaden's costume the night before Halloween. Procrastinators unite! ... Tomorrow! (Haha... cliche' joke for you.)
I think it turned out super cute! Maybe next year I'll get more daring and make another costume. Maybe I'll start it before the week of halloween... but probably not.
I also thought, "Hey! While I'm killing time waiting for all the shenanigans to begin... I should squish Jaden into the little cowboy outfit that we used for his new born pictures! That'd be fun, right?"
And it was!
...For me at least.
It really is such a good thing that my boys are good sports, for the most part, with my picture obsessions.

(Although this is how they generally feel about it.)

Guys. The belly.

Once he finally escaped the clutches of a crocheted doom, he discovered his carseat. It's been a great toy ever since!
My amazing friend, Kassie, was at the trail-or-treat since she works at the hospital. She took these pictures for us after we made our rounds...
You can obviously tell who is enjoying this and who is not. ;)

Kas with Super dude. :) We can't wait for Kas
and Mitch to become parents... if they have a boy
Jaden and baby Brinkerhoff can be bffs. If it's a girl,
well... I mean arranged marriage right?

Aaand this is how we all felt after our sugar hangover. ;)
