Week 14

Yesterday was our 14 week check up, and it was a fast one! It was one of the 'Yup, everything looks good! Questions? Ok, seeya in 4 weeks!' kind. We got to hear our little one's heart beat which is always amazing, and I was still impressed with Dr. Gatherum. On our first appointment he just sat and visited for a while before even getting started, and he was so great to get Matt involved. I'm sure husbands/dads don't feel as included since they're not the one carrying the baby, but Dr. Gatherum makes sure he never ignores or forgets Matt.
This time he asked us about our Labor Day weekend and visited, and when I couldn't remember my questions he didn't just get up and go, he'd wait and ask me again if I had any questions. I really like when Dr's make sure they take time with each patient so we're not just a number on their schedule, we're people. :)
We also got to schedule our ultra sound when we'll be able to tell if this is a cute baby girl or a cute baby boy! We'll go back on October 3rd. :) (Which seems so soon, but I have a feeling this next month is going to drag just because I can't wait to find out!!)

I've been feeling so grateful for all the supportive friends and family we have. :) One of my friends is kind enough to let me borrow a bunch of her maternity stuff, and she even has a doppler! I'm not even sure why or where she got it, but it's awesome! The twins tried it out and got to hear "Gunther"'s heart beat last night. :) So cool! I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing that sound. It's so amazing when you stop and think about what a miracle all of this is, and how incredible technology is that allows us to hear and see our tiny baby before it's born! So crazy!
Also, in case you were wondering, maternity pants are like heaven. I know I'm not even that pregnant looking yet, but you get to a point where it's just uncomfortable to have a waistband cutting you off and putting pressure right on your belly. Dude, the stretchy huge waistbands on maternity pants are sooo stinkin comfortable! I might even like them more than scrubs! (And that's really saying something! ;) )

The past couple of days have been pretty great! Besides awful headaches (that Dr. Gatherum prescribed a tylenol with Pepsi for :p) I've been feeling better for the most part! I even felt like I had enough energy to really tackle cleaning my house yesterday! I hope this feeling good streak lasts, it's been nice to not feel awful while trying to get to work on time and still be nice to patients. ;)
(I plan on putting a picture on later, I just haven't had time to take one yet!)

I hope you're all having a great Friday so far! Yay for the weekend!

  1. I refused to try on maternity clothes, and at 3 1/2 months I finally I went into a JCPenney with Jon and my mom. I put those pants on and almost died of relief. I asked the girl if I could wear them out. Now I kind of want to buy some maternity pants just to wear all the time...
